On Wednesday, October 18, the Unit 7 Board of Education, along with administration from Unity High School, dedicated the welding shop in honor of Mr. Kenneth Roellig, who served as a teacher, principal, and Unit 7 superintendent for more than 30 years. Mr. Roellig, who is a World War II veteran, also worked with the Iron Workers Local #380 to create and sustain an apprenticeship program that was housed at Unity High School. Along with representatives from the Local #380, Mr. Roellig forger partnerships that benefitted the Union, local contractors, and the Unit 7 school district.
Friends, family, and former colleagues joined Mr. Roellig to celebrate the occasion, and Mr. Roellig commented that teaching always brought him the greatest joy.
