The Girls’ track and field team won the IHSA Sectional meet last night. The Rockets qualified 14 girls in 15 events for the IHSA State meet next Friday in Charleston. Qualifying for the state semi-finals are Josie Cler in the 4x800 and 4x400, Cami Reedy in the 4x800 and 800, Mackenzie Pound in the 4x800, 800, and 4x400, Ashlyn Denney in the 4x800, 400, and 4x400, Bri Ritchie in the Long Jump, 4x100, 100 hurdles, and 300 hurdles, Kayla Nelson in the 4x100, 4x200, and 200, Jillian Schlittler in the 4x100 and 4x200, Lauren Miller in the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400, Emma Swisher in the 4x200, Ana Carter in the Discus, Erica Woodard in the 3200 and 1600, Caelyn Kleparski in the Pole Vault, Lauren Shaw in the Shot Put, and Emily Decker in the 1600.
The Lady Rockets Softball squad went to Maroa on a mission last night. The Rockets scored 14 runs on their way to win #26 on the season. The offense was on fire with 8 different Rockets contributed. Sophia Beckett had two doubles in her 3 hit night, also adding 3 RBI's. Lauren Haas also had a 3 hit night, adding an RBI and 2 stolen bases. Maegan Rothe added another 3 hits and an RBI. Jenna Adkins added two hits including a homerun and 2 RBI's. Taylor Drennan added a two run homerun. Ruby Tarr and Reece Sarver each doubled twice. Ashlyn Miller earned the win on the mound striking out 5 batters. She also added a hit and an RBI to help her cause. Unity's next games are tomorrow at Pinckneyville playing two, one vs. Pinckneyville, and one vs. Marion.
